Questions:
In this
project my audience will be mainly pointed to people who are looking duck
hunting
guides in Louisiana. I choose this audience by turning my blog about
duck season into an ad for
people who want to go duck hunting for a good price
and for people who have never been ducking
hunting for them to get the
experience. My original piece was about my duck season I had this year,
and it
just talked about how many ducks we shot this year, and just about some amazing
hunts I
had with some friends.
The audience
needs to know that they have to contact me a month before duck season starts
so
we have set up a date and time for the hunt and the pay. I am communicating
with people that
hunter of any type and outdoor enthusiast.

Blog Post “Duck Season”
Welcome to Landon’s Duck Hunting Experience Tour ad. Hi I am Landon Foster and I
am a duck hunter tour guide in Pecan Island, Louisiana. If you are looking for an amazing duck hunt I
am the one to talk to. Ever since I have started this business each year we kill approximately 600
ducks. This is an extreme high in Louisiana. My land is best known as the “Kill Zone”. We kill the
most ducks, and have the second largest land. I do have some rules and requirements if you
schedule a hunt you must have a hunting license, and must have experience with a shotgun. I have a
total of 9 hunting blinds which can hold 2-3 people, and three mud boats that can hold 6 people in
each boat.

We wake up at around 4:00am and leave at 4:30am. So make sure to get some sleep in our nice 3 bedroom trailer, with 9 beds, 2 bathrooms, a living room, and a mud room that keeps your shotguns, boots, waiters, gun bags, and shotgun shells, and a kitchen. Every day of your hunt there will be a little breakfast before the hunt and after a big breakfast filled with bacon, biscuits, eggs, sausages, pancakes, orange juice, milk or chocolate milk, and a small lunch, but a dinner time I will cook up either, steaks, hamburgers and hotdogs, or go down into Abbeville, LA to a fine seafood restaurant called Shucks.
Pricing will be $45 per person and $150 per hunt and children 10 and under are free. But for an extra $35 I will take your group on a fishing trip after the hunt to Rockefeller Wildlife and Fishier lands to catch some red fish and speckled trout or go crabbing.
So if you want to have a wonderful duck hunt and fishing, with amazing food and meet new people call me at 1-800-1234-ducks.

Hits and Misses
The thing I enjoyed most this year is the poetry and specifically the blog post when we had to write our own poem and I wrote about Hurricanes. I thought that was a hit because a lot of people enjoyed it and it was fun to do. Another hit I thought was good was the WRAP test we did in class because I love to see what the topics and this one this year I thought I did really well. I really went in depth with that topic.

Plagiarism
If somebody plagiarises just shows me that they are lazy, a liar, and a cheater. It just sickens me to see this person do that. Especially Jane Goodall and even her last name has the word good in it which is pretty ironic because she did a bad thing. Her picture in the article makes her look like a sweet old lady. Some details that make the situation more serious is that she didn't just copy a few of the same words from another source than her own words she copied entire paragraphs of other websites. Later in the article she talks about how sorry she is that the sources of her work were not properly cited but I think she knew she was plagiarizing and she didn't care were she got her information from she only cared that she got it with out using her own words.
I really think that the co-author should have said something to her, and tell her that this is not right what you are doing, and give the credit to the people you got it from. But we don't know if the publisher and the co-author knew what she was doing or they did but they just wanted the money from the selling of the books. Plagiarism is extremely wrong to do, it shows signs of weakness, and laziness, and cheating. So nobody should ever do it.

Poem #2
The think that I want is to go to any college I want and get a good education, to have fun and to have a bright future after college. I would have to do a lot of things to accomplish that but I think it can and will be done.
To get into any college I want I will have to do a lot of things. One big thing is that I need to have good grades, not like a couple Bs or Cs but As with maybe one B. That us a big part that the colleges look at and semester and final exams. But to do this I will need to study, not get carried away with phones or friends but I mean hanging out with friends is alright. It is a way to take a break from school work. Some other things is that I need to ask for help if I need or even if I don't need it. Because this first year of high school I never really did know how much teachers helped like at tutorial. At my old school you just go to class, take some notes, a small lecture, and later that day you couldn't go back for help because we had no time during school. So I learned that the hard way. Now they are a huge help to me. And hopefully if I do all of this I will get into any college I apply to.

Hurricane Poem
Hurricanes by Landon Foster
Devastating creatures of gods creation
that last for days with endless rain.
Turning lightness into darkness
The rain will never stop coming down
like cats and dogs.
As it drowns the soft, sweet grass.
The king of winds roaring and howling
commanding trees to bow down to its almighty power
The giant whirl spin consuming large areas of land.
Destroying everything in its path
leaving nothing but.
Trash.
Flooded houses and buildings.
Up rooted trees.
What more does this beast have to offer?
Devastating creatures of gods creation
that last for days with endless rain.
Turning lightness into darkness
The rain will never stop coming down
like cats and dogs.
As it drowns the soft, sweet grass.
The king of winds roaring and howling

This book I am reading Fail Safe is historical fiction about American bombers go off course pass the fail safe zone and into Russian territory and one man a Russian translator has the fate of the world in his hands, which in that case if that was me I would be so scared.
The book so far has not been exciting, it is just putting all the characters into the book, telling who they are, what they do for the government, there personality and the cool thing is that at the end of every chapter there is always alittle foreshadowing on what will happen in the next chapter.

Song
"Ring around the rosy A pocketful of posies "Ashes, Ashes" We all fall down." today is a children song. That all the kids today sing and love. But it has a connection with the Bubonic Plague. The plague's symptoms gave a person a rosy red rash in the shape of a ring hints "Ring around the rosy" and they thought that carrying flowers and nice smelling herbs known as posies in pockets hint "A pocketful of posies" But the ashes ashes part was originally "A-tishoo, A-tishoo" due to the deadly sneezing. The English version "Ashes, Ashes" refers to the burning of infected, dead bodies.
The first two verses of the song are iambic trimeter "Ring around the rosy A pocketful of posies" and the verse "Ashes, Ashes" is a iambic dimeter and the last verse "We all fall down" is a trochee dimeter. In the song there are some consonance like Ring aRound the Rosy and A Pocketful of Posies and "We ALL fALL down"

Nervous Condition
Nervous Conditions was a good book. I think that it should be part of the 9th grade syllabus because it is not an easy book to read. I think it is challenging for Freshman. It helps the reader fully understand what a book consist of. If they do the same thing that we are doing with the C layer, B layer, and A layer projects. I think it would help them do what they fell comfortable with and that it could help them understand the book better than just everybody do annotations and reading guides.
The book to me was a little complicated to read but I liked it because I have never read a book that hard so it was a challenge for me. It probably will help me for next year and coming years readings, and it will help the upcoming 9th graders learn more about some techniques that will help them in there reading skills.
One thing that I didn't like about the book was that most of the time it got a little boring and when I was reading I tended to fall asleep at some points. I don't know about anybody else but that was just my option. That could be a bad factor for it being in the syllabus because the some of the upcoming ninth graders will find it boring an meaningless and not put in the time to read and do the annotations, reading guides, or the character charts. But I know that some people like me will find it challenging and accept the challenge.
Overall, I do think that this book should be in the syllabus because it is challenging and it will prepare them for other novels that come along.

Chapter 7
Tambu in chapter seven is not what I expected. I expected her to feel homesick and want to go home to be her normal self again. But no that is not what happened. She begins to like school and make new friends, meet new people. During the Christmas holidays Tambu, Chido, and Nyasha went back home and Tambu was excited to be home so she could take care of her mother and see old relatives. She said she really missed her friends back at school. Then when she said that something popped into my head. Back a few chapters before Tambu's brother died, he came back home from school and he didn't really care about seeing his relatives and he wasn't excited. Tambu, in a way, was just like her brother but she was a little excited but not like I thought she would be.
New environments can certainly change someone. For example, when I came to Episcopal in August, I was extremely nervous. I barley new anybody, it was a lot bigger campus than I was use to, I didn't know what it would be like and I didn't know how to act. My head was telling me to be somebody that sticks out, but my heart was telling me to be myself. Thankfully I listened to my heart and now I have great friends, most of the teachers like me, and I am having fun.

Tambu
In the begining of the novel I was a little bit shocked about Tambu's first words, " I was not sorry that my brother died." That is a little bit harsh don't you think. So at first I thought that Tambu throughout the book was going to hate everybody for no reason. Also, I started to wonder why Tambu wasn't sorry about her brothers death. A few questions popped in my head. Was he mean? Did he do bad things to her that hurt her feelings? Or did she not like him because she just felt that way about him? As I read on Tambu's brother came home from school, everybody was happy except for Tambu. Then I read on and Tambu said to the audience(the reader) that Nhamo forgot his own language, Shona, and that he never wanted to help anybody with work. He would let everybody do his work. And Tambu says that he never wanted to come to visit his family. I think he is arrogant, stubborn, and he is embarrassed by his own family.
So now I understand that Tambu wasn't sorry that her brother died. He was arrogent, mean, didn't want to be with his family, and just a stubborn boy.`

Nervous Conditions
So far my work has been good. I have completed the reading guides and annotations for chapters 1-5. Some adjustments I would make for the next C layer project is that in my annotations I will need to start writing notes with the words or phrases I underline. I thing I would help a lot for me to understand the important parts in the novel. The most useful things are the annotations because it helps me look for important details in the book instead of just reading the book and not noticing the details. I can find relations between people and find important conflicts between characters.
The reading guides were ok, they helped a little but I wouldn't call them to be the useless part of this project. It's just that in the past years, in my classes we would read a book, a chapter or two a night and we would get questions to answer and it was the same thing over and over and over. We never did annotations. But now annotations help break down the book into categories which makes it easier for me.

Research
For my English and History research question is how did the Atomic bomb dropped on Japan spark the Cold War? During my research I have found information about the making of the first Atomic bomb, and things let start after it was dropped like the USSR testing there first A-bomb, the Space Race with the Soviet Union and the United States. I have found a lot of information on the Cuban Missile Crisis which was the biggest threat in the Cold War. I picked this topic because
I have always been fascinated with WWII and the Atomic bomb and I wanted to know if the A-bomb dropped on Japan had any effect on the Cold war so I put them together am it turned into my topic.
My topic for my project is how the Atomic bomb dropped on Japan had a major affect on the beginning of the Cold War. On my days of research I have found that after WWII the Russians or Soviet Union tested there first A-bomb which then caused the US to take precaution and keep watch on the Russians activites. This also led to the Cuban Missile Crisis which was the Russians were bringing missile equipment into Cuba and building launching stations aimed right at the United States.

Research Update
My research so far has been good. I have been finding a ton of sources for my paper and my annotated bibliography. I big help to this is my tutor who has helped find some sources and he actually knows a lot about my topic.
There are some sources that are not as reliable as others. Because it doesn't show the author or how published it. Or when the information was last updated or when it was published. All that stuff is very important to have when I am annotating the source.

Duck Season
Duck season is coming to an end with only one week left. This year has been good but not great. The first split of the season was just amazing. Every week we got our limits, with just mexican squealers, teal and a few black jacks, and grey ducks. My dad was happy that we got limits but wasn't happy that most of the big ducks, like green heads and pintail were gone. Even the real were thinned out. But we were packed with squealers.
The second split was terrible at the beginning. But my brother my dad and I hunted for 8 days straight during Christmas. We had guest coming everyday. The most we had was ten. It was extremely hard to get everybody into two small mud boats, but we did it. After walking 300 hundred yards each day cause all of our blinds were filled up we got a total of 265 ducks. That is what I call a hunt. My favorite hunt of those 8 days was when me and Willy D hunted together and the first day we got 12 and everybody else got 0 and 5. It was awesome. But the next day Will and I hunted at a different spot and only got 5. We got bored and started to walk around in the marsh of through reeds and try to get up some ducks. Well we didn't go far when I fell five or six times. The temperature was
in the mid 30s which was extremely cold when I got water in my pants.
This season has been great. We have killed a total of 606 ducks which is a record for our group. But next year I hope to get a lot more.

1/8/13-Band of Brothers-Stephen E. Ambrose-pgs. 30-50 30min
1/9/13-Band of Brothers-Stephen E. Ambrose-pgs. 50- 65 20min.
The Band of Brothers book is amazing so far. I love to read up about WWII. It is just fascinating to learn about wars and history. I have seen all of the episodes of the Band Of Brothers miniseries and I was hooked into WWII. The miniseries wasn't like this book though. It was more detailed, had more scenes to it and it had astounding visual words and sentences in it. It really put my into the soldiers shoes, and I could feel, see, smell on what they were doing.
I would truly recommended this book to anybody who loves WWII, and loves reading history and action. This book so far is one of the best I have ever read. It just amazes me on what the war was like in the words of the actual soliders who fought for our freedom.

Second Semester Free Post
For this second semester I am looking into doing a whole lot better with turning in my homework on time, not two days late, not a day late, not finishing it the class before, but on time. I realize now that homework is the biggest part of our grades. You can have all As and Bs on test and quizzes but have some zeros in homework and have a C in the class. I was a huge procrastinator. I didn't use my time wisely during tutorial, which really hurt me.
This semester I am noticing that I am spending more time during tutorial doing my homework, asking teachers for help and doing some homework ahead of time for me to ask questions sooner. It has helped a lot and my grades are improving tremendously. I hope to keep it up in the future.
